McClure Creek
McClure Creek is a large, forested property located in a clean, quiet rural setting near McConnells. The land is covered by a mixture of different aged pine stands and hardwood forests. McClure Creek weaves across the property’s front and western side. The larger Little Turkey Creek forms the northern boundary.
About 155 acres of upland ridges are covered in loblolly pine about 13 years old. Another ±50 acres are in planted loblolly about 24 years old. More than ±40 acres of mature hardwoods are found in bottomland areas, along creeks and in upland patches. Red oaks, white oaks, yellow poplar, and walnut are all common. The property has around a quarter mile of frontage on Simpson Road, a rural, paved road that passes by pastures, woods, and scattered houses. Parts of the land would lend well to a variety of uses with gently rolling hills and broad creek bottoms. Steeper slopes lie near small streams and in the transition areas between upland and bottomland. A few building sites are easily accessible. Powerline and phone/cable are present along Simpson Road. Soil map for septic drain field potential looks favorable near the road. Woods roads and trails give good internal access. The shape of the property does not lend well to division.
The tract is about 2 miles from McConnells, 12 miles from York, 15 miles from Rock Hill, and 40 miles from Charlotte. All distances are approximate road miles to the center of town.
