Cane Creek

Standing Timber and Creek

Cane Creek flows through this timberland property in a clean rural area of south Union County just west of the little town of Carlisle. The land is mostly covered by planted loblolly pines in three age classes. Trees were established in 1997 on about 31 acres, in 2004 on about 27 acres, and in 2011 on about 26 acres. All planted pine areas have been fertilized. The two older stands have been thinned.

Mature hardwood and pine, totaling about 18 acres, runs along Cane Creek and other, smaller waterways and also in patches around gullied areas. These trees vary in age but are generally more than 40 years old. Red and white oaks, yellow poplar, sweetgum, and red maple are common.

The land lays gently in many areas. Currently the tract is all wooded with no significant openings. Much of the land that is now in planted pine could be used for large food plots or pastures. Some small clearings are present in the bottomland along Cane Creek.

The property has excellent access with more than 2,000 feet of frontage on both sides of Hwy 72. The surrounding area is mostly large, timberland tracts. No houses are near the property. Electric lines run within a few hundred feet of the property to the north and to the south. There is a public waterline along Hwy 72. A railroad runs across the tract (east to west) above Hwy 72. About 30 acres lie north of the railroad and are accessed from Old Whitmire Road, a small, single lane, paved road that ends just past the property.

There is no street address for the property and no houses are nearby. “3117 Janie Glymph Goree Blvd, Carlisle, SC 29031” can be used for GPS directions to Glens Grill and BBQ. Once there, go west one mile and look for signs by a red gate.

The town of Chester is about a 20-minute drive away and offers restaurants, doctors, churches, and several stores including hardware, Tractor Supply, and Food Lion Grocery. The tract is about 18 miles from Chester, 38 miles from Rock Hill, 64 miles from Columbia, and 68 miles from Greenville. All distances are approximate road miles to the center of town.
