Meeting Street

Pond and Timberland

Meeting Street Tract is a great recreation and timberland property with easy access just north of Edgefield. The land lies on the east side of Meeting Street Road a little more than three miles from the county courthouse square.

The land is mostly wooded except for roads and trails. About 60 acres are forested with loblolly pine planted in 1994. These older trees border Meeting Street Road and wrap around a pond about 4 acres in size. Away from the road frontage, about 61 acres of broad, gentle upland was planted with loblolly pine in 2019. Another 45 acres was recently harvested and then planted with pine in January of 2026. In the back corner of the tract, about 10 acres of young pine is mixed with native hardwoods. Northeast of the pond, a small area of oaks, maples and other hardwoods stand in a seasonal wetland.

Soils are mostly silt loam or fine sandy loam and are productive for timber and other uses. Over much of the property, soils would be productive for larger fields and pastures if desired. Topography is gently rolling over most of the land. More than 80 percent of the property is mapped as useful farmland (USDA farmland classification). Deer and turkey are common and quail can be found among the younger pines.

The property is surrounded on three sides by large, wooded tracts. Houses sit along Country Place Road to the south. Otherwise, homes are widely scattered in the area. Powerlines and fiberoptic cable run along Meeting Street Road and could serve a home or cabin on this tract. There are no public waterlines nearby. Soil maps indicate that septic perc potential is good over most of the tract including at potential building sites near Meeting Street Road.

The property has great access with almost 2,000 feet of paved road frontage. Woods roads enter the tract in two places. Roads are open and drivable through the tract to the back property line. The main access leaves Meeting Street Road along the north boundary where the property line runs down the middle of the woods road. The road is in excellent condition and is shared with the northern neighbor with each landowner having a 15-foot easement running adjacent to their boundary for use of the road. This road is also used for access to another tract which joins the property at its northeast corner.

Parts of the property have been surveyed at different times with four plats dating from 1935, 2004 and 2010. Combined acreage of the plats is 186.09 acres. The owner plans to convey title with time-limited restrictions on the deed related to density of mobile homes and solar projects.

The town of Edgefield is about a 5-minute drive away and offers restaurants, hardware stores and groceries. Edgefield has that stereotype southern charm centered around the old courthouse square with local favorites like TLC Confections, Park Row Market and Christine’s Farm to Fork. There are also favorites off the square like the Ole Edgefield Butcher Shop. National Wild Turkey Federation headquarters sits just south of town.

The tract is about 3.5 miles from Edgefield, 30 miles from Greenwood, 26 miles from Aiken and 31 miles from Augusta, GA. All distances are approximate road miles from the center of town. The property is timberland with no improvements and does not have an address. It begins along the east side of Meeting Street Road about 800 feet north of its intersection with Country Place Road.
